Typography in Motion: Kinetic Typography

Typography In Motion
                Three Letters in Three Seconds

Concept

In this project, we collaborated as design students from Greenside Design Centre to share
and blend our unique journeys through animation. Tasked with bringing the letters "GDC" to life,
our goal was to reflect on our past, present, and future in the world of design.

With a spirit of collaboration and shared insight, we selected the adjectives erratic, jittery, and
futuristic to represent the diverse experiences that have shaped us. Combining our individual stories
and perspectives, we utilised Adobe Illustrator and After Effects to create kinetic typography animations. These visual narratives celebrate our growth, challenges, and aspirations in the realm of design.

G - Erratic Morph

This piece mirrors a design student's tumultuous yet growth-filled journey. The animation sees
a lowercase 'g' undergo a transformation, flipping and morphing into a question mark, symbolising
the uncertainty and questioning inherent in our learning process. The emergence of an uppercase
'G' signifies our development and newfound confidence.

D - Jittery Worm

Drawing from the familiar feeling of pre-deadline jitters and the indispensable role of coffee,
this animation personifies the letter 'D' as a worm, a homage to our visceral reaction to stress
and the unexpected. The worm, animated by a splash of coffee, vibrates to the centre of the
frame, embodying our energetic yet anxious strides towards deadlines.

C - Futuristic Constellation

This animation paints a picture of our prospective paths in the design industry. It begins
with a galaxy from which stars—symbols of our bright futures—align and pulsate, mimicking
a loading bar.
This effect hints at the technological advancements that await us. Additional
stars form the letter 'C', representing the collaboration with fellow designers, culminating in a
constellation that signifies our aspirations of reaching the stars.
Each animated letter is not just a task completed, but a story told, a feeling shared, and a future anticipated. This project is a testament to our growth, resilience, and hope as emerging designers ready to leave our mark on the world.
Thank You!
